21 Studio Ghibli Films Coming To Netflix For The World To See

Here's another reason why you should keep that Netflix subscription active — Studio Ghibli masterpieces are about to make their way through the popular streaming app! And we're not just talking about a few titles here. Recently, Netflix announced 21 Studio Ghibli movies would become available for every subscriber starting February 01, 2020.

Netflix's acquisition of the rights to feature 21 films from the award-winning collection enables many anime fans around the world to watch Studio Ghibli movies in their mother tongue. For the first time in forever, the catalog of famous classics will feature with 28 subtitles and dubbed in up to 20 languages. Streamers from Latin America, Asia, Europe, and Africa can now enjoy the wonderful world of Studio Ghibli, perhaps before they get to visit the theme park in Japan that will open in 2022.

According to the leading people from Netflix and Wild Bunch International, the distribution partner behind this effort, this association is a dream come true. The vision is not just for millions of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki fans, but also for their respective teams who yearn to grow its library of top-notch animation films.

Studio Ghibli Films Netflix Schedule Of Release


Every 1st of the month from February to April 2020, seven Studio Ghibli films will appear in your suggestion list of Netflix series to watch. If you watched anime through the streaming channel, expect one of these movies to be in the feature.

Everyone's looking forward to more Studio Ghibli releases. And we hope that if the animation company does, Netflix would be able to acquire the license to publish them soon. 


Sad News For Three Countries


For some reason, Netflix would make Studio Ghibli films available anywhere except for three countries: United States, Canada, and Japan. But don't fret as the titles listed above will soon come to HBO Max, who promised to showcase the entire Studio Ghibli movie library. The only difference here is, HBO Max charges more than Netflix having a basic plan that costs $14.99 per month.

With 22 films garnering worldwide praise, Studio Ghibli became a prominent anime production company. Founded by animated film directors Hayao Miyazaki and the late Isao Takahata in 1985, the collection has brought its audience awe-inspiring feature-length movies applauded for their originality, unexpected twists, remarkable animation and its contribution to the Japanese culture.

But with a recent announcement that it has reopened to gave way for their new production, fans can expect a new movie arriving soon. And as part of the fandom, we can't help but hope the next films would be available on Netflix too.
