Viz Media announced on Friday that Rumiko Takahashi's "Inuyasha" is having a new anime spinoff titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon (Hanyo no Yashahime).
Viz describes the storyline of the new Inuyasha anime:
Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's daughters set out on a journey transcending time!
In Feudal Japan, Half-Demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other because of the forest fire. While Towa desperately finding her twin sister walks into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Sota Kagome Higurashi's brother, and his family.
Ten years later, the mysterious tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with her sister Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer under Kohaku. But to Towa's shock, Setsuna seems to have lost all memories of her older sister.
Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three shoujo travel between the two eras on an adventure to recover their lost past.
Inuyasha's episode director Teruo Sato is directing the anime at Sunrise, and Katsuyuki Sumisawa is responsible for the scriptwriting after doing the previous Inuyasha and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. Takahashi is the main character designer, with Yoshihito Hishinuma from Inuyasha to adapt her designs. Kaoru Wada is also back to compose the music.
The 2020's 24th Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is adding a poster of the anime's official teaser visual on May 13, and Takahashi's fourth MAO manga volume promoting the Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon anime on May 18.
