Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Valhalla Won't Hit Steam At Launch

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is launching this year for consoles (including Xbox Series X and Play Station 5) and PC. Ubisoft will be doing a similar release from its other recent games, skipping Steam and at least initially releasing in the Epic Games Store. Similar release method to the Ubisoft's recent games.

Ubisoft has declared that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will only be sold on the Epic Games Store. This game will also release on PC through Ubisoft's Uplay service. The Ubisoft's return is expected to be a big opportunity for Epic's store, which has seen a growing number of third-party games launch as exclusives over the last year.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be the first mainline new installment in Assassin's Creed series to skip Steam. Also, it will be the first game in the installments to launch for next-generation consoles Xbox Series X and Play Station 5. Assassin's Creed Odyssey (2018) and the rest of the earlier generation games are available to purchase on Steam now.

Ubisoft's The Division 2 was the first big game to release as an exclusive on the Epic Games Store. In 2019, at the Game Developers Conference, Ubisoft and Epic Games prolonged their publishing partnership for future releases, and now we confirmed one of them is the Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It was not published on Steam, but Ubisoft's agreement with Epic for Valhalla exact terms are unknown. Many of the other Epic exclusives, like 2K's Borderlands 3, did also released on Steam.
